About the area
With a population of over 25,000, Kestopur (officially known as Krishnapur) is located in the North 24 Paraganas area in West Bengal. It lies on Kazi Nazrul Islam Sarani, more commonly known as VIP Road, which connects the area with Dum Dum Airport. Over the years, Kestopur has become an area of great prominence because of its proximity to areas like Salt Lake and Newtown.
Emmanuel Church, located in Kestopur, established in 1829, caters to a large population of Christians and communities of all faiths.
Current CRS projects
Currently, CRS is providing a women’s empowerment programme in the area, offering courses in tailoring and embroidery. Many women in the area work as domestic help and struggle with illiteracy.
